How we install Edison well lights. Edison lights, or better known as well lights, are MR-16 lights with a PVC enclosure. We also put caps on them so the light isn't in your face but still does it's job.$ https://barefootlighting.com/edison-well-lights/

Talking about view points at the Beekman 1802 farm. You Have to Pick a Few Key Points and Design From There. It's important when lighting a large property to think about all the different ways your clients use their space. I pick the areas they use the most and create a few different focal points and light from there so they always have a great view in their favorite spots. https://barefootlighting.com/?p=1093

Buckets are the secret to success. Set your crew up for success daily! Buckets are awesome. We give each of our installers buckets to keep some of their landscape lighting equipment in. The buckets are an easy way for them to stay organized, as well as the pack-out cases we have for their tools. They keep all sorts of things in their buckets as you'll see in this video. https://barefootlighting.com/?p=1084

Having your own space on a job site. Define Your Space on Job Sites! You'll Love It! Having a space for all of our tools and gear really helps us stay organized on a job site. It also helps separate our stuff from anyone else who might be working on the same job site. It's been really helpful for us to keep inventory of everything. https://barefootlighting.com/define-your-space-on-job-sites-youll-love-it/

Talking about uplighting trees. If Your Contractor is Doing One Light Per Tree, Just Do it Yourself. If you are getting landscape lighting installed and your installer is only putting one light on a mature tree, you should not hire them. You always need more than one light on a tree, unless it is a young tree, to get a proper portrait of the tree. https://barefootlighting.com/?p=1078

Talking about the pricing process of getting Gemstones. How Much Does Gemstone Lighting Cost? Hey it's Captain Matt with Barefoot Lighting here one last time, in today's video I get to the ever so important question of “what is this going to cost me?”. Well in order to answer that question we're going to need to know a few things, mainly the measurements of your home, what kind of siding you have, what kind of soffits you have, and where you would like the gemstone lights to be installed. We offer different options and levels based on your desires and budget, your biggest decision is going to be whether you do the front of your home, the back of your home, the sides of your home, or the entire thing. I like to help my clients by breaking it down like; this the front of your home is for the neighbors, and the back of the home is for your family, now that is a pretty simplistic breakdown but generally it's true. Now if you love decorating for Christmas or other holidays,...

How we keep our power drivers clean. Direct burial power drivers for landscape lighting. Hey guys Captain Matt here, I wanted to show you guys one of our direct burial power supplies, or power drivers. Now this is a way we can be super clean, so this is a power drive, so normally you'll see the wooden stakes. I have one up there from when we bought the house this was already done, wooden stakes, those big silver boxes that's your power driver. Well these, this one's just run right now for testing lights, you dig a hole it goes right in the ground, like this, and then this plug here plugs into the outlet, you conduit from the ground up to the outlet. It looks super bitchin’, looks great so super clean. We do have the wall mount ones too, they're not silver, sometimes those are needed just because of the ground or whatever. We also have the rock supply ones as well, so we even consider the power driver so that the design doesn't get ruined by a big metal box randomly...

Yeah it could be worse but... Mental health discussion with Captain Matt Hey guys Captain Matt here, today I just wanted to talk a little bit about I guess mental health. I found myself doing this being on crutches with my ankle issues that when anyone ever asks “hey what happened?” I'll say “oh I fractured and sprained my ankle, but it could be worse.” and I find you can really get caught up into this cycle, the spinning where you don't even allow yourself to go through the emotions because things could be worse, someone has it worse, or your friend tells you a story and you say it could be worse you know at least there's that, right? Well of course it could always be worse, no matter who tells you what, no matter what they're going through, there's always something that could be worse. So I think that's just something we should stop doing, that's something I want to try. I'm going to put some effort in to stop doing to myself and others because you ne...

Let us do a demo for you! I need your help! Hey guys Captain Matt here just wanted to make a video real quick, I'm posting a link as well, but I am looking for some help. So, if you're in the Capital Region, Albany area, I'm looking for people that are willing to do a free demo, even if you're not in the market to get lighting, basically I'm still hopping around on crutches so I'm looking for this; I did a little contest with my guys to see who could do the most amount of demos, and who get the best picture from a demo. Basically a demo is when they come one night and it takes about 45 minutes to an hour of your time right before the sun goes down, they show up, they talk to you, if you want a drink they'll bring it bring a couple drinks, and then they'll just set up a demo to show you what your house looks like lit up, maybe some trees too. They'll talk to you about your property in general, again if you don't want lighting that's fine, thi...

Tree mounted up lights and their placements. What is a Tree Mounted Up Light? Captain Matt talks about tree mounted up lights and why we place them higher on the tree sometimes. They are placed higher on the tree in areas that get a lot of snow so they're still visible in he winter. The other reason why is if the tree is in an area with a lot of wild growth, the light will have to be higher up so it isn't covered by foliage. https://barefootlighting.com/?p=951

Captain Matt and Tommy Bahama. Why Do I Wear These Colorful and Sometimes Crazy Shirts? Captain Matt here, a lot of people ask me why I wear the shirts I wear and the reason is twofold. One, Tommy Bahama, I love how it feels, I love the linen, I do like the silk as well, I just love how they match up, but I've loved them even since I was in high school. I had tropical type shirts so it's just something that I naturally enjoy wearing and I think I look good in them, so I wear them. What the benefit is, is because I wear them consistently, when the weather allows at least, is that it becomes a brand, right? Captain Matt is wearing the tropical shirts, the resort, he's bright, so it helps as a brand. Then during Christmas time you see me in my ugly Christmas suit, and then when I do my business videos I'm in a dress shirt, why? Because first impressions matter, and if you can stand out for the right reasons, or for a reason that doesn't make you an idiot or a loser. ...

Another walk through of a design on a pretty interesting property Lighting Design in Schenectady NY. I Love Their Bridge Garden! How About You? Hey Captain Matt here, just wanted to walk you through another lighting design I did in Schenectady. I'll try to make this one faster, so here's a little gazebo that's out in the front woods here, I just got some lights on all the pillars and surrounding the trees to make that a really cozy place to sit, you’d never sit there in the dark before the lighting because it was pitch black. Let's see here, this is just another angle from the other side here as you can just see it kind of, we can encompass this entire gazebo swing area with lighting to make it so you can actually use it and enjoy it. This one I clipped in here so you see they have the solar light on top of the flagpole, and we also have three lights on the bottom so that the flag, no matter which direction it's flying in, is lit. I just wanted to show you what I ...
