Captain Matt explains one of his lighting designs. Lighting Design Walk Through Hey guys Captain Matt here, wanted to go over another video here with pictures in it because a lot of you've been liking that. So on this one I just wanted to show you this is sometimes what we'll do for a design, now this is one for us on our initial plans also for our install team sometimes the client as well, and so I just want to go over one with you. The most important thing to note is some clients get this, these arrows do not necessarily mean that a light is going every single place there is an arrow, and also doesn't mean that there's only going to be one light. Where there is an arrow it is simply to show the overall vibe and direction of lights, where they're going to go. So you see here is a picture of the front of the house, we have some up lights that are all gonna go on the bottom, we've got some area enhancement lights that are gonna go right on the front porch, then we got the right on the top of the roof skyliners we're gonna light up the roof itself there, also on this front porch above it and those are just trees in the back. Now here's another angle, this is coming up to the front of the house, we're going to have path lights going down the path, and again so they aren't going to be right next to each other the whole time that's not what it is, it's it's just to kind of outline where things are going to be. Then there's a tree out here that'll get some up lights on it, break out that front porch, look at up lights here, and light up the chimney on the side with a bunch of up lights, this house we're definitely going to focus on uplighting it. This is the right side of the house and again we're going to have up lights on it, I’m thinking about doing a down light in one spot just to kind of cast some light out in the side yard for nighttime activities. Here is the left side of the home, now these red squares here are transporters, they're like little flood/wash lights they're gonna go on the fence, and we're gonna do down lighting on this side of the house, there's a patio and stuff right there so instead of trying to drill into it we're gonna have it all come down, also this is a walkway in the courtyard so lighting it will be beneficial, instead of coming up we're going to come down on that side. Then we're going to do some lighting on the fence, we're going to switch it up between some Nightposts and some Guardsman just to show different things. A Nightpost is going to have up light and down light, while our Guardsman is only going to be up, there's trees above them so it'll also light the canopies of those trees as well as the fence itself. This is if we want to do up lights, sometimes we mess around with different ideas and each design to see which one we like the best. Then this is the back of the house actually, we're not doing anything fancy back here just a bunch of up lights, not much going on in this backyard yet. Then finally this is the driveway and entryway, and there's a bunch of trees out there so we'll be doing some large Enhancers here on the side of the driveway. The Enhancers are 60 inches so they spill down and also out of the way of the snow plow, and some other ones up top, there's landing stairways we're gonna have the hardscape lighting. This is just showing it all as down lights here on the house, as you can see all the way down and then still lighting up the roof. So anyways, that's just a little thing I wanted to show you guys kind of walking through some of our designs, and again just to show sometimes I know it can be confusing and we get questions like “hey, how come there's a down light here an uplight over there, why is there only one light here and three lights there?” well again, it's just that every arrow doesn't necessarily mean it's a light, and every mark doesn't mean it's exactly where it's going to go. So we'll go through a couple iterations of these, sometimes drawn out on paper like this, sometimes done on the iPad, sometimes just done right there live in front of you.
