Where did my contractor go? So my fence is almost completely done... until the last 25 feet. My contractor told me he would be back the following day or following Friday, and that was over two weeks ago! When working with other contractors it reminds me how important communication is with your clients, because now I have no idea what is going on with my fence. I wanted to show you how I design for Christmas. Christmas Light Installation Design Mock Ups. I've had a couple people ask me how I design and do estimates for Christmas so I wanted to make a video to show you how I do it. I use MarkUp or Jolly Lights on my iPad, MarkUp is a little faster than Jolly Lights but Jolly Lights provides more detail. I use an Apple pencil for Jolly Lights because its more precise than my finger, I like all the different options Jolly Lights gives you for the design process. I usually use MarkUp on teh computer, but I just draw on the picture where I want the lights to be, I use different colors for the roofline, trees/bushes, garland, and brach wraps. Nothing says Christmas like 90 degree heat. Christmas in July?! I've been out doing Christmas estimates all day and it feels so weird doing them in 90 degree heat! We were out at a new clients house and the wife was making fun of her husband for calling so early, but thats actually perfect because as a new client there's no way to get you decorated before Thanksgiving unless you call now. Not today Satan! Tried to ruin my Friday with Garbage… So, this might not seem like a big deal but someone threw their trash in our dumpster outside our warehouse. Now the dumpster is in the wrong spot and we can't park the two vehicles that usually go here, or else we wont be able to open our door. I have to pay to have someone pick up this extra trash, and to remove these pallets, I know it might seem harmless but it's effecting my small business. One of Our Favorite Tools A couple people have asked me what type of knife/shovel we use for landscape lighting installs and this is it, the AM Leonard soil knife. It's really good for digging down to a certain depth because of the inches on the side, it's also great for cutting through roots or sod. Why won't we leave Christmas lights up, but we install permanent lights in trees? Leaving Lights in Trees, Landscape Lighting vs. Christmas Lights. During the Christmas season we get asked to leave Christmas lights up all the time, the reason we can't is because the lights will strangle the tree as it grows, and it will ruin the lights. But then how do we install permanent lights in trees with landscape lighting? Well we use special brackets to attach the wire for the lights to the tree that don't strangle the tree. The bracket breaks when the tree gets bigger instead of the wire breaking, then we come and replace the bracket. https://barefootlighting.com/?p=1180

Something I like to do is to have my project managers learn what the installers do to make sure they understand the work that goes into the projects they make. Add some excitement to your path lights! Planters Give Path Lights a Base and Color! Adding a planter under your path lights is a great way to make them look more colorful and give them more of a base. We want our power drivers to be basically invisible. Let's talk power drivers and blending in with the landscape. I wanted to show you one of our power supples, usually we use direct burial power supplies so you don't even see them. But, at this clients house they had a layer of gravel so we couldn't burry the direct bural What we did instead is use on of our power supplies that is disguised as a rocks so it blends right in with the gravel. https://barefootlighting.com/?p=1150
